Review: 41129 Amusement Park Hot Dog Stand

Summer is almost here, time to take a break, the amusement park is open late, time is just about right to go check out the wiener shaped hot dog stand!!

I hear the word is that reviews should be geared more towards AFOL's than children (that's Adults Fan Of Lego!). In this day and age, I wonder what makes us adults buy and play with LEGO. The news around us are quite dreary and there is always this one special place where one can escape reality and let their imagination flow freely, reconnecting with the innocence, I want to say candidness, of childhood. Whether we like to collect sets for display or reuse parts to build our own fantasies, we are all big children at heart and we should never forget that. In reviewing the two sets I have on my to-do list, I will do my best in staying faithfull to my inner child. Without further ado, lets see what these sets that were on the top of my list this season have to say. Starting with #41129: the Amusement Park Hot Dog Stand.



As mentioned by my fellow Friends Bricks reviewers, the lit up glittery ribbon makes the amusement park sub theme instantly recognizable. We've witnessed other LEGO parks like the 76035 Jokerland or 10247 Ferris Wheel and I find it really cool to develop that idea in one of LEGO's own licenses. And since there are quite a few different sets to chose from in that range, it makes it a wallet friendly theme as well that should be able to please boys and girls alike.



There are many reasons why I chose this set. I could tell from the back of the box it would be full of groovy accessories and surprises. Let's not waste any time scanning the box again, it's been sitting around for a good week, that's how busy I've been, I let the urgency come, now that it's here, let's open it up already!

Review: 41127 Amusement Park Arcade

Front of the Box

The box is typical of Friends sets with beveled sides and pastel colors. The 2016 Friends “Amusement Park” themed sets are easily identified by the sparkling lights embedded into the ribbon banner. On this box cover you can also see a roller coaster in the background. There is also a lit path that leads to other areas of the park.

The sides of this box are typical of all Friends sets, including the usual Warnings, Friends logo and the set number. The right side of the box shows the sparkly ribbon banner wrapping around from the front to the back of the box.


Back of the Box

The sparkly ribbon is also displayed on the back of the box. The usual BFF’s can be seen at the bottom left wearing their Amusement Park themed attire. Mia is wearing a light green tank top, with dark green dots across the front of it.

In the middle of the box, each mini-game is highlighted showing off their action features. Mia appears to be having a ton of fun!

Seeing these action photos make me want to rip the box open and start building this set right away! So let’s do just that and see what’s inside the box!

Review: 41124 Heartlake Puppy Daycare

To be honest, I did not know such a thing as dog daycare existed until I found out about this LEGO Friends version. Apparently, it is a place where owners can leave their dog during the day.

This set has the standard box design, with no indication of it being in any special sub-theme.

Review: 41128 Amusement Park Space Ride

Heartlake Amusement Park's overall theme is "Space" and this set gets Olivia into her 

very own rocketship for a Space Ride!

Spinning around an orbit of the crystal chamber, the 3 rocketships launch and then spin 

higher with centrifugal force.

Let's see how confident in this build she is to flash a smile at the camera for a keepsake photo!

The box's ribbon graphic is tailored to this sub-theme with fairground lights trimmed in neon that forms a swirl at the flange.
The girls all have fun-park attire or items in their top right appearance. The yellow neon arrow sign above Andrea points to some fun and appears on other items in this sub-theme.  The subdued monotone stripes on the flanges also echo Olivia's top.
Lights, sparkles, and other rides in the background lend to the action excitement this year.


The ribbon graphics continue around to the back of the box where we can see a demo of the rocketship lifting higher, the camera stand, and treats for returning to terra firma.
Again, the neon swirl helps designate this as an Amusement Park set.

Review: 41135 Livi's Pop Star House

Heartlake’s resident pop star, Livi, gives us a glimpse into her private life by opening her doors to the public. Let’s see how the “rich and famous” of Heartlake live.

The front of the box shows Livi’s Pop Star House at nightime, nestled away high in the hills above Heartlake City. It also highlights the two mini-dolls included in this set - Livi and Andrea.


The box design features the design that associates this set with the pop star sub-theme and includes Livi as one of the Friends in the top right hand corner.

The back of the box highlights that the building is modular, as well as the many playing features and accessories included. It also shows the that the pool section can be swung around to be at the back of the house.

Review: 41119 Heartlake Cupcake Cafe

For the largest selection of cupcakes in Heartlake City, head straight to Stephanie’s favourite place, the Heartlake Cupcake Cafe. Let’s see what makes this a favourite place to hang out.

Review: 41118 Heartlake Supermarket

Mia is taking time out from looking after her favourite animals to do her weekly shop at the Heartlake Supermarket (41118). Let’s check it out.

We can see from the standard purple flanges and ribbon wave across the top that this set belongs to the base theme and not a sub-theme. It looks like the supermarket is located near the new Heartlake Cupcake Cafe (41119).

The back of the box highlights the playing features and the accessories included, and that the building is hinged. I can’t wait to have a closer look at some of those printed tiles!

A new and never seen before world-class LEGO experience to open in second half in 2017
LEGO House is a hands-on minds-on experience center where LEGO fans of all ages are invited to discover the magic behind the LEGO brand, experience the LEGO story and be inspired by the endless play and learning possibilities of the LEGO brick. Six different experience zones, three restaurants and a state of the art brand store invite guests from all over the world to interact, build and play in a breathtaking setting.
The building is designed by BIG architect Bjarke Ingels, will be 23 m tall and include 12,000 m² full of LEGO experiences.

Located in Billund, Denmark, LEGO House will have three areas for Food & Beverages. The working title for the three areas are Café, Family restaurant and The Mezzanine. Each area has an own concept. 

The Café:
The Café is a trendy food & beverage area providing easy to pick refreshments to the LEGO House guests. You will spend approx. 15 min in the Café to enjoy a good coffee, lemonade or a glass of beer or wine while you are having a snack, sandwich or a piece of cake. You can order from a display of prepared food.

The Family restaurant:
The Family restaurant is the place to eat lunch or dinner for families visiting the LEGO House. You order your meal by building it in a LEGO way with a fun, interactive and playful family experience and can enjoy high quality food. There will be a menu card. You will spend approx. 45-60 min in the Family restaurant.

The Mezzanine:
The Mezzanine is the place to go for an evening out with business partners or friends. It provides fine dining with a fun and subtle LEGO twist. You spend +90 min in this culinary gastronomy to enjoy high-level food and spend quality time with your network.

Review: 41172 The Water Dragon Adventure

Naida is spending some time with her new dragon friend Merina and getting to know her better. They both have the ability to control water, and they feel right at home by the pretty waterfall! Together, they can walk in the woods, fly in the sky or swim in the ocean. They are like two sisters who are best friends!

Review: 41115 Emma's Creative Workshop

The first release of the Friends theme back in 2012 included Emma’s Fashion Design Studio (3936). Now four years on, Emma’s studio has had a renovation (or should that be re-incarnation) as Emma’s Creative Workshop (41115). Let’s see how it stacks up.

The front of the box shows Emma’s Creative Workshop, located in the light and airy loft of a building.



The set box carries the familiar purple flanges on the sides and ribbon wave across the top, indicating that this set belong to the base theme and not a sub-theme. The view out the window suggests the workshop is located in a leafy suburb and not the city.  Maybe the attic in her house? 

The back of the box highlights the playing features, focusing on the sewing machine.



The side of the box reminds us that we should not let the 0 to 3 year olds loose on the LEGO.



Inside the box is an instruction booklet, a sticker sheet and three un-numbered parts bags.
